Otago Red Deer
Haweā Station is positioned 15 km from the original release of the Otago Red Deer in 1871.
Our Red Deer herd is the pride of our farm - thanks to untainted premium Otago genetics, coupled with our management plan, our stock presents world class hunting opportunities.
Trophy stags ranging from 12 to in excess of 18 points, however it is the length and shape of these animals that can be the most impressive, many in excess of 40 inches long.
Our classes of Red Deer consist of Trophy stags 300+ Douglas, Management stags, and Second-class Trophy stags, which sit between the Management and Trophy categories.
Fallow Deer
Our Fallow Deer herd matches the quality of our Red Deer.
Originally from eastern Europe and introduced into New Zealand in 1860, they have since spread throughout the country.
Whilst the free range Fallow herds vary in quality nationwide, we are proud to consistently see high volumes of incredibly high scoring free range Fallow in excess of 250 Douglas.
Chamois
Chamois are a majestic alpine animal that reside in the steep bluffy country throughout our hunting grounds.
Chamois are inquisitive and intelligent animals that can provide some of the most visually stunning and exciting hunts available.
We offer both on-farm and wilderness hunts for Chamois.
Tahr
Himilayan Tahr are often one of the first animals that come to mind when New Zealand Hunting is mentioned.
They are a large mountain goat species that are often called the king of the alps.
Sure-footed, they reside in steep alpine country during the winter months and venturing into varying terrains outside of their rut.
Pigs
Our wild pig population provides a thrilling and accessible hunting experience across the rugged terrain of Lake Hawea Station.
These hunts are fast-paced, full of action, and offer a great opportunity to explore the property in a more dynamic way.
Whether you're looking to add an extra species to your trip or seeking your first hunt, wild pigs are an excellent choice.
